Giltwood Six-Portrait Wall Frame

A carved and gilded wooden photograph frame with six oval portrait apertures arranged in an asymmetric, stepped composition. Sculptural leaves, flowers and fruit connect the frames, while the aged gilding lends depth to the carved decoration.

With French-inspired Art Nouveau styling, the piece is described as dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century; this dating has not been independently verified. The photographs show its current sepia portrait inserts.
